Ok...so..keeping in mind that i'm not a mac expert or an SL one but this is what I have come up with....Actually the Mac salesperson did, but....Is the OpenGl issue one that is going to stay where it is now.....I have no idea what that is or what Metal is, either.....this is an imacpro....what does everyone think about this...??

Thanks,

I have wanted an iMac for years, and my hesitation has always been that it does not work well with SL. Some users say it is fine, but almost none of them are able to use all of the graphics features that SL offers. Most of the people i know with a Mac, tell me not to get one for SL. I have the Air, but that is not a good comparison because it has such a tiny screen that alone makes it not very SL friendly. At each iMac upgrade, I look once again for SL usability.

thanks for that..i have seen that already and that is just the very, very basic low end requirements for SL to do what it can do...i guess i am asking what desktop specifically can handle the highest graphics that SL has to offer..i know most people think that SL is dead but i go there for the virtual sailing....which is awesome....i am just tired of the slow..ness of everything. I am just assuming the macbookpro, which is old just can't handle it, SL....

Ok, so..bear with me here while I try to understand this.....SL does not and will not ever use Metal and Mac will never change to Open GL......That situation will not change or improve....I have discovered that I can get the increasingly annoying macbookpro to work a LOT better by using the SL viewer instead of Firestorm...It's like an entirely different "game" just by switching the viewer. So, if the imacpro that I have on my list can't change the Metal/OpenGL thing will that specific imacpro work even better with the new viewer....? I'd like to start using photoshop and blender also..while I am in world....This macbookpro would just explode if I did that....Will the new imacpro be able to handle all of that...SL....Photoshop, Blender, and..laughs, of course, Itunes playing the whole time...?

Thank you, but I really prefer Firestorm. I think Sansar uses metal, but SL never will. It is my guess that they will phase out SL at some point, but when they do, they will lose a lot of dedicated users. I hope the graphic creations in SL will not be lost in the process because the creativity in SL is unmatched. My PC works great with SL, so that was never my concern, and it does everything I want it to do. My looking at the iMac is because I use Apple for everything else. I take my iPad to bed with me and my iPhone never leaves my side, so it would be nice to compete the circuit with an Apple desktop.

it's not, for me a question of preference....I'd like to use firestorm, but my mac works much better with the SL viewer, no question about that......I will not buy a pc, no matter what, so this is a problem to solve some other way....Sansar uses metal, you said, but sansar also doesn't have anything for mac users...will they, ever....? I am all about the creativity that SL allows for which is why i want to stay there..i just need a mac that can handle all of the things i want to do....i think i'm on the right track with the imacpro....??
