Can anybody help please Macbook 12" retina

Hi can anybody help, I have a Macbook that is 9 months old and its stopped working, the apple genius have told me that the mother board has failed so they changed it for a new one. Now the new one has failed also but it did this half way through the backing up proccess so iv lost important data. They are saying that I have to send to US at my own cost with a 3rd party 200 pounds(from Hong Kong) plus 3-6 hundred pounds for data retrieval, does anybody know if this correct the bill is almost as much as the machine cost!! The software problem seems to be the result of apples hardware failure shouldn't they sort this out for me??

Two things here:

  1. When you purchase an Apple product in another country, the warranty is only applicable in that country. Any repairs would require you to either bring it or ship it back to the country that you purchased it in.
  2. The US Apple hardware warranty does cover any manufacturing defects within one year of purchase. It does not cover the cost of shipping. It appears that Apple is performing to this warranty by attempting to make the repairs. Unfortunately, the first repair did not solve the problem.

Hi thanks for the reply, the hardware isn’t really the problem and apple are happy to sort this in hk the problem is that files that are on the HD. They are saying the only way to retrieve them is to send the machine to the US from HK where I am now. As it can’t be done in HK, my question is should I have to pay for this when it’s the hardware that is the problem. When they change the mother board I will lose everything.

The machine Ines was purchased in Hong Kong.
