iPhone incoming calls ending with single side button press

I am used to of putting incoming calls on silent using side button, but to my surprise these days one single click ends the call, please suggest a solution

Volume button won’t mute incoming calls I have the iPhone 11 and I used to be able to mute an incoming call without dropping it by pressing on the volume button once, but now if I try to do it it doesn’t work and just lowers the volume of the ringing. Is there any way to fix this?

Use the Volume Down button.
