iTunes doesn't show books to synch to iPad
iTunes 12.9.4.94 (March 2019) Shows only one of my ebooks to synch to my iPad. All of my books and pdf files are in iBooks, on my Mac, but I can't add them to my iPad.

Hello Pogdaddle,
I see that you're having an issue with your books not syncing from your Mac to your iPad. I'd be happy to provide you with some information that can help with getting your books onto your iPad.
Let's have you take a look at the following article that provides the steps that may help in this scenario:
"See your books on all your devices in Books
With iCloud, your books, PDFs, collections, highlights, notes, and bookmarks appear automatically in Books on your Mac and your iOS devices when you’re signed in everywhere with the same Apple ID. Then you can easily download the books to read and enjoy them.
See books and PDFs you added to Books
If the issue remains, or you're receiving an error message, respond back with more details.

Enjoy your day!
I actually had a new spin on the problem last night: after a while, all of my books were shown in iTunes, but my original selections of what I wanted to sync were unchecked, both for books and for PDFs, and indeed one book that I had recently uploaded to Books a few days ago did not show up in the list at all. It took me a while to figure all this out, however, since I wasn't really paying attention to the titles and their selection as much as I didn't see the number of books that I wanted to sync. Again, this occurred for both my iPad and my iPhone, so it took me into the early hours of the morning -- and much loss of sleep -- to see this through. Pogdaddle, I haven't really seen a difference in iTunes automatically opening versus when I have my devices plugged in...but I haven't really looked before either! I will be sure to do so next time and report on what I see.
Open finder. Open Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks. This brings you to Books. Copy and paste Books to your desktop.
Open finder and click on Music in the left sidebar. Open iTunes/iTunes Media. This brings you to a page with Books.
Copy and paste "Books" from your desktop and you will be given the choice to Merge Books. Select Merge and all of your eBooks will be in iTunes
Management of books itself is not the issue here. Syncing books from Books via iTunes to iPad/iPhone devices has NOT been removed from iTunes, au contraire (I'm on 12.9), but Apple sure does it's best at impairing its functionality.
Hi! I am having a similar issue. My iTunes doesn't even give the option of displaying Books, like it does Music, Movies, etc. I have several books in my Books library on my Mac running Mojave and the latest version of iTunes. It sounds like this is just the way it will be. Is that correct? To get books to my iPad and iPhone, I, too, email the files to myself and then open them in the Books app on the devices. I have looked into doing the procedures suggested here but have not had success. You would think that someone at Apple would address this issue, especially since it appears that there are many people who would like to be able to synch books along with Music and Movies. Just my thoughts. Thanks for listening.
I have the exact same, frustrating problem: there are 110 epub books in my Mac OS Books app; yet iTunes shows only 51?!
Every so often the sync carries itself out correctly, and all books show in iTunes and are synced to my iPad. Alas, my next sync almost always reverts back to only showing a fraction of the books contained in my Mac OS Books app
It's disappointing that syncing - such a very basic function - almost never works correctly with books (I have no problems with any other media types)

Dragging and dropping, from the source folder, doesn't seem to work, for me.
I tried dragging an .epub file to the open books pane of iTunes, when my iPad was connected, and nothing happened.
I can add files to iBooks without any problem, but have to email the files, then open them, in iBooks, on the iPad, to get them onto the device. Explain how you do it, please.
Some good ideas as to fixes, posted since my reply. I'll give a few a bash
It is however rather disheartetning that Apple can't get fix/get right something so fundamental
Nonetheless, its good to be part of our wee community here :0)

Sorry, Dengencal, that didn't work at all. Running Mojave 10.14.6 and iTunes 12.9.5.5. I seem to have two completely different lists of books now, and unlike previously, they no longer integrate upon quitting iTunes. My word, I can't wait for the new software update that eliminates iTunes.
Sorry again, Degencal, I tried all your suggestions, but no love at all -- I thank you very much for offering them, however! I was especially surprised that, when I opened my Books folder in iTunes Media, it had only a few files in there, one of which was actually repeated, LOL. (BTW, I think I failed to mention that I use a 2017 iMac; curious what your own hardware is.) Other measures I took were trying to use CleanMyMac, but that really didn't do anything either aside from general maintenance for me. Truth to tell, I'm actually at the point of thinking of removing all books from my Apple Books library and just starting from scratch. Sometimes I wonder, however, whether the fault may lie more with iOS rather than iTunes...who knows, right? Again, however, thanks!
I think it may be better to wait before you dump anything. In a couple of weeks Apple is supposed to be changing the way things sync. Apparently we won't be using iTune which I believe to be the biggest culprit as far as our problems go. I'm running a 2017 iMac 27 inch, 4.2 Ghz intel pro i7 with 64 G of ram. Raedeon Pro 580 8 Gb ram video card so unless the machine is faulty it should be able to do the job. I really do think the OS has been neglected while they have been developing new software. Sorry the fix didn't work for you. I've spent way too much time screwing around with this problem and when it did work for me I wanted to share in the hope that others would benefit. Silly Apple.
Ah, I forgot that iTunes for Mac is slightly different from iTunes for Windows.

I'm having the same problem and I tried to use the user guide and not works, could anyone solve it?
