explanation point at the bottom of my photos and videos

every time i try to click on my photos more than a day old they are blurred out and show the explanation point. how do i fix this?

You may want to check the settings on your iPhone.

Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, or go to Settings > Photos.


Is iCloud Photos enabled, together with "Optimize iPhone Storage"? Then Photos may remove the original image files for older photos from the iPhone, and you need an internet connection to view them. The exclamation point may occur, if you do not have a working internet connection or if you are running out of storage, either on the iPhone or in iCloud.

If you are not connected to Wi-Fi you will need to enable the cellular download for Photos to see optimized photos.


Have the photos been taken with the iPhone or have they been synced to the iPhone from a computer? If they have been synced from a computer, are these photos perhaps RAW photos?
