ECG - I bought my watch in the UAE but live in the UK.

If your Watch was purchased in the UAE region, it’s tied to the model number and cannot be changed. You’ll just have to wait til that region supports the ECG function or purchase an Apple Watch in the UK region.

The AE/A part identifies it as a UAE version. You will not be able to configure the ECG function until (a) UAE gets access to the ECG app, and (b) you make a visit to UAE for at least long enough to do the app setup within the region where the watch was consigned to be sold.

Check your iPhone is running iOS 12.2 and Watch 5.2. The Watch needs to be on UK region as well. This doesn’t Guarantee it’ll work though.

hi, i actually have apple Watch model A1978 purchased from Dubai / UAE and ECG does not even show on my watch, no matter what you do ... i used a US Apple ID, didn't work, changed region didn't work ...

My colleague bought 4 apple watches exact same model from the US (A1978) and they work perfectly well outside the US ...

I believe it it not the model number that matter as much as the country of purchase ... i feel sorry for myself and all the customers who bought Apple Watch 4 outside the US ... Apple should put a label of the watches sold outside the US stating that limited features apply ...

I also have an UAE watch and just found out that access is linked to the model number xxAE/A then we will only get access once UAE gets the ECG application active.

that won't work as the Apple Watch egg feature works on something called a purchase location locked which basically means that the egg feature should be in the country where you buy and turn on your watch for the first time. The app won't be available until use gets the egg feature approved and into all use apple watch

I also have an UAE watch and the ECG app doesn't appear in my series 4. I called apple support and they told me it is blocked to the country I bought it, but other apps like Walkie-Talkie, that are listed as unavailable,work perfectly.

I have set the phone in a region where the apps are available but this works in a way for ECG and another with other apps.

Nope. It doesn’t work there. So you can’t set it up. The reason is due to medical boards in the country the Watch is sold not approving it for use in that country

Ok that’s a GPS model. So will work fine in anywhere. So it has to do with you region set up.

If you tap on the model number it change and show you the A**** one
