After a year of no-travel / desk-use-only / external keyboard and mouse use only, and no screen rubbing or cleaning at all, little bubbly problem started!
Now with sunshine through window, this all-over-screen bubbly coating problem makes it unbearable to watch. Is this really over $2,000 price tagged retina screen MacBook pro quality?
Does anybody have same problem? Any known solution?

Yes, you said it already. Sometimes liquids may get from unexpected sources.
Maybe it's time to give a chance to cloth with water only?
I had similar issue with my old MacBook. Wrong display wipes was the cause in my case.
Some liquids containing acetone or hydrogen peroxide may causing this effect.

Never cleaned the screen. That is not the cause I am sure.
