I want to confirm if the App Store application that I have on my laptop is legit or fake. I seem to have some kind of malware on my MacBook Pro and this application is the only one I can think of that seems new to me. Is there such an App on the MacBook Pro? If so, how can I confirm this is legit? When I try to put it in the trash it says “App Store” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by macOS."

That app is part of Mac OS; you need it to buy/download apps and it is listed in the listing of apps included by Apple in Mojave when you buy a Mac:

And you can't delete it because it is part of the OS.
