How Do I Restore my iTunes library (music, playlists, etc) after recent iTunes update?

The latest iTunes software update has cause my iTunes library to remove some songs and playlists I created (including one just created 5 minutes prior to the update). How do I restore these? I tried previous instructions that involve dragging .itl files to the desktop but nothing that worked and I'm about to throw my computer out a window. HELP!

After playing around with things for a bit, I made sure to pay attention to the modified dates and times of the library files. When I first started trying to restore things last night, I moved a file (just named "iTunes Library" to my desktop. I looked at it and noticed the date and time was April 5th around 10:30PM. I opened my Itunes back up while holding down the Shift key so that I could get the option to choose a library. I chose the iTunes Library file with that specific modified date/time and my whole library returned!
