Unable to connect to iCloud Music Library

I am trying to upload a new cd I bought to my iCloud library, but iTunes keeps giving me error messages like "Genius results can't be updated right now. The network connection was reset." or "Genius results can't be updated now, An unknown error occurred (-50)." I have reset my router, signed out and back in to iTunes, reinstalled iTunes, and now when I go into preferences and check the iCloud Music Library, I get the same message and it unchecks itself. Everything was working fine a couple days ago with other music I was uploading.

Genius had been turned off for ages on my desktop, and has never been turned on with my laptop (I checked the settings on that yesterday when I went to see if this was just happening on my main PC, and it's not. It's happening on both). But even with it turned on, it is still happening this morning, on both machines, with Genius on.

Ok but there are those that have said Apple are working on this at their end.

All this messing around with out set ups will have no benefit other than to make it harder to get back to normal once Apple fix this.

We just need to ride this out until its fixed.


For what its worth i did what you suggested above yesterday, as i too googled this issue before it was widely reported. yesterday.
