Turned on my iPhone this morning to listen to music, and found that about 50% of the songs in my iTunes library were greyed out with no artwork. I got the error message, "This song is not currently available in your country or region" when I tried to play any of them. No particular pattern, no obvious reason, and many were on music that I burned from my own CDs many years ago.

I get the same message after re-booting the phone, going into airplane mode and everything else I could think of. Any ideas?

Hook your phone back up to the computer that you run iTunes off of and re-sync. Mine had recently been synched properly, and my computer didn't recognize my phone at all. Obviously something buggy in the new 12.2 update, which I didn't even realize had been run on my phone yet (I don't do auto updates for anything). Once the phone has been essentially rebuilt from your archive, everything works fine for all of your music.

This worked for me! After repeating the process multiple times and reopening iTunes repeatedly, I managed to get all the songs that were greyed out to come back, but this time with the cloud download button. I have a playlist with most of my library in, so I simply hit download on that.

There didn't seem to be any pattern to what music I lost to begin with, so this definitely seems to be a bug.

I had this problem on an iPhone 6.

@Kunal002 - I dont have the option to sync selected playlists. Mine simply says "ICloud Music Library is On".

I've noticed that when I even try to play some of my songs in iTunes on my PC that I get the message "this song is not available from the UK store". WTF is going on because this is MY music that I have in my iTunes library on my PC and was synced to my phone. Now I cant even play it in iTunes on my PC, nevermind sync it to my phone. Also, nearly all my music is showing the "download from cloud" symbol, even though the music is on my local HDD.

Doesnt anyone have an explanation for why this is happening? How do I get support from Apple to fix their problem?

Part of the problem is, people are talking about different problems ranging from iCloud music to music purchased from iTunes to music they ripped themselves. Then they're calling some degree of pure coincidence a "fix." And what is the deal with this forum software. It won't keep me logged in more than a day, yet it mocks me with a "Remember me" button, and it takes no fewer than three clicks to see the latest message in the thread. I remember complaining about the former years ago, and of course, there were silly people who defended it.

I’m having the same problem as well, although thankfully only for 2 of my 600+ songs, all burned or transferred from older devices via mp3.

Running OS 12.3.1 and always sync using USB cable directly to laptop.

Never had this issue before and the songs don’t seem to have anything in common- one of them I even realised had a typo in the artists name so who knows why it’s greyed out.

You just linked to the thread you responded on. Which is useless. There is no answer here, yet you put a link to this thread, where there is no solution.

If you’re referring to your previous response which says this would happen if one changed warning settings in iTunes, that’s a cause but not a solution... and there are no warnings settings in iTunes, that I can find. I mean, not surprising, since I’ve never had iTunes throw me a warning.

Having the same problem. I just synced my iPhone last week, everything was fine. Today I synced, then some of my 200+ songs grayed out mostly the Recently Added songs. I did the iTunes Warning Reset on my Mac. I resynced 5-6 times already, iTunes added 4-5 gray out songs back at a time and quitted syncing. By the way, I usually only synced about 500 songs to my iPhone.

I also discovered another unexpected surprise. Today my iTunes set itself to sync all my photos instead of some albums that I set long time ago.

My iOS is 12.4.1.

I didn't travel more than 20 km radius between the 2 syncing time.

Avoiding iOS 13 at the moment because I am afraid it will brick my Apple CarPlay.

I don't get the whole idea of "not available in your region" anyhow. This was synced from MY MUSIC on MY PC from MY CD'S.

What has the music police got to do with Regions. I'm in the USA. Suddenly all my Dutch, French, Irish, Israeli and African music was not available anymore? I don't know where they got the gall to do this anyhow. Don't they have anything better to do than to play music nazi?
