Gmail keeps going offline in Apple Mail

Since upgrading to Mojave 10.14.4, Gmail continuously goes offline in Apple Mail. Only solution so far is to close Mail and restart. After restarting, Gmail appears to be working normally. Has something changed in the way Mail works with Gmail or has Google changed something?

POSSIBLE FIX!

So today I got really annoyed by this, again... So I called Apple support and I think they might of helped to me get rid of this.

Here's what I did:

1 Remove all Gmail accounts from Mail

2 Add a new network location and then renew the DHCP lease

3 Delete "com.apple.mail-shared" in Library/Preferences/

4 Restart and add my Gmail accounts

I can't really tell which of these is the actual fix, but I'm now 7h later and did not experienced this at all. Fingers crossed!

Just scanned my MacBook for any viruses and malware - none. Also checked the area you mentioned in network settings and I don't have any proxies or anything in that SOCKS area. Don't think that's my issue. I think like others have experienced my problem has to do with the account settings in the MacOS that Apple needs to figure out.

For comparison I also have a MacBook Pro 2010 that is NOT running Mavericks, is configured the same way as my new MacBook Pro, with the same accounts etc., and it does NOT have this problem...

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touchbar and this issue started with the version of macOS 10.14.4. I have tried all the steps that people have put in this thread and none fix the issue. I have ran malware bytes, all clean, and SOCKS proxy is not on. I work at an authorized retailer and service provider and we have had people come in with tons of problems with my specific model. Apple has had me send them every type of log you can think of and they are still trying to find the problem.

I read through this thread this morning, following an "upgrade" on my Mac Pro 2013 and MacBook Pro 2013 from High Sierra to Mojave, and I am experiencing the same issues with my gmail accounts, which were rock-solid under High Sierra's Apple Mail app. I waited what I thought was long enough before the Mojave installation to try and avoid the obvious early release bugs that always occur with Apple these days. Disappointing, to say the least, that Apple's quality control has deteriorated to such a level. Frustrating to constantly hear in the media about how much wealth Apple has as a company, yet they apparently have no desire to hire enough qualified resources to work out these very obvious faults in their software.

I'm also having the same issue with Gmail not connecting. Email to my own domain server is working without any problem. I tried the checking the boxes for Contacts, Calendars and Notes. It did resolve the issue, however, I don't want Google's Contacts, Calendars and Notes on.

But, if I remember correctly, I had a similar problem with connection issues between Google Mail and Apple Mail app awhile back. The solution was to change the outgoing server address in the Accounts section of Mail's Preferences. (I found the recommended server somewhere in the GoogleMail forums.) But now I see that Apple mail has cleverly gotten rid of the Advanced Settings in Apple Mail. I'm going to refrain from adding a sarcastic comment. But I will look further into this. It is possible that Google mail has once again changed their preferred STMP server.

I should also note that Little Snitch only recently started to report and request connection to: googleapis.com (process from: /System/Library/Frameworks/Accounts.framework/Versions/A/Support/accountsd). I'm not sure if this has contributed to or caused the problem.

Update to my previous post:

I turned off the check boxes for Gmail's Contacts, Calendars and Notes but it started to squawk again so I turned just Gmail Notes back on and it immediately calmed down.

A few days later I turned Gmail Notes off (bc having the feature on adds GMail in the Notes App and I didn't want or need it). Luckily, there have been no further Gmail offline issues. Even though it worked I don't think what I did was a proper fix.
