dictation is duplicating what I say

After 2 days of researching.... Turning off VoiceOver worked for me on my Iphone XS. IOS 13.1

Settings>Accessibility>VoiceOver (off)

So playing with some of the settings in Dictation and the keyboard settings I found out that if you turn off advance dictation under the dictation tab and also slow down the repeat for the keyboard and keyboard in settings it seems to fix the repeating issue so maybe it's just the advanced dictation.

Are use dictation to make this whole entire reply in Safari so looks like I might've fixed the dictation duplication issue.

I believe this is the result of a feature LOL. You have to hit the keyboard icon to end your dictation otherwise if you hit somewhere else other than that particular icon it sometimes duplicates. Give it a try.

Eureka! I've solved it! Pause at the end of your dictation and insert a full stop. Then 'enter'. This problem had been giving me grief for months. I am using an iMac 'Catalina'. Best of luck!

I turned off key repeat AND voice-over and it rectified the problem

this was driving me crazy too. I turned off key repeat under keyboard prefs and voila ! it fixed the prob !

OK, I also turned off Touch Bar typing suggestions under text, and turned off enhanced dictation… Try that

It only happens to me in Safari. You'll solve this issue if you use Chrome or any other browser.

it worked for me just now I was having that same issue and turning off the voice control within the settings was causing the issue.

Happened to me as well. I turned off voice control and it corrected it

It really only happens to me in Safari, not Mail. So obviously it behaves differently for different people. I'm trying to train myself to end dictation with any key except Function, which prevents the duplication. However, if dictation stops on its own accord because of the time limit, then it duplicates.

As someone with a manual handicap, I depend heavily on Dictation. The main reason I upgrade from one operating system to a newer one is an attempt to improve it. It just seems to get worse, though, or it introduces new and different problems.
