That is fascinating, and very good to know. But why should we have to employ such a hack? Always in with a comma, ...and then go back and erase it? WHO is tending the store? Again I ask: WHOSE is this to fix: Apple or Google (Gmail)?

Interesting. As a Mac user who is very dependent upon voice dictation, let me see if I have correctly followed this conversation: Apple voice recognition is AWESOME unless you are working in Safari. The solution is to leave Apple and Safari, and move over to Google and Chrome, (... or dictate a comma every time you want to pause, and then erase it). That’s quite an innovative business model.

I am still asking if Apple ever listens in on these conversations, and maybe even speaks into them: “ Sorry everyone. Thanks for the heads up. We are on it!“ This is a very old complaint, but neither a remedy nor even a word of encouragement. Does Apple watch? Hear? Care? Seriously, I would like to know.

This is happening while using "Notes" as well.

After saying whatever you want to be dictated and then stopping, everything that you just dictated will be exactly repeated.

I have not run into this problem with my iMac or Mac air, essentially because I don’t use them for dictation style tasks. However I found my iPhone (10 X ) gives me this issue quite often when I’m dictating into a “send a text“ field. Thoughts?

This bug renders the dictation app completely useless. It’s been happening with me for at least six months. Why can’t Apple get their act together and fix this bug?

Having duplication issues also. New MacBook Pro 15 inch. I found a way to make it not do this and that is to hit delete before dictation shuts off. If you go until it shuts off or hit function to turn it off everything duplicates from that point forward. This is something fairly new… Like 60 or 90 days?

Apple. Fix it for god sake

This has been an apple bug for many years which they refused to acknowledge or correct. You can make it happen almost on demand by dictating a series of words or sentences and then if the device is thinking about the translation quickly stop it by pressing The Siri screen on the bottom of your screen to stop the dictation. I have gotten it to do triple a few times. It seems that voice dictation to text via Siri is not a priority for Apple. Big shock

Like the above reply I also found a way to make it not duplicate. That is to stop Siri before it stops. Delete works or some other button and keys.

This was maybe a 6 to 8 month problem for me also on brand new MacBook Pro 15. It does not happen on my iPad Pro or my iPhone X.

I believe this is the result of a feature LOL. You have to hit the keyboard icon to end your dictation otherwise if you hit somewhere else other than that particular icon it sometimes duplicates. Give it a try.

Awesome I’m glad it was helpful. Yeah I find it’s not consistent behavior when I missed behaves. I think it depends on exactly what you do too and the dictation. But hitting the keyboard icon always works. Thanks.

Yeah, well, here it is March 23, 2020 and this problem still exists. And NO, it's not just Safari. Multiple apps on my iMacPro, Catalina 10.15.3. I am disabled and this bug really messes with my dictations practicality. Make that: kills it. I get 1 duplicate, sometimes it just decides when it will stop duplicating. I have no answers.

Good luck finding a solution to that issue, I first sent it to engineering in November 2018 and every few months I check on the case only to be told engineering and he is still working on it.. My advice would be to contact Apple tech support, but do not expect a resolution as I have been having the same issue for almost a year and a half with her no resolution in sight. I primarily use dictation on my Mac and 90% of the time it doubles everything up.

I too do not see any settings to change things on my iPhone...
