My MacBook Pro shuts down unexpectedly

Dear Apple community,

It started to happen a few days ago after updating some software

on my MacBook Pro running on MacOS Mojave 10.14.4 : my laptop

shuts down unexpectedly.

When it happens, it happens all of a sudden : no time for applications

to quit or to save files. The screen becomes black and the computer

is off.

It's possible to turn on again my laptop, but it interrupts what I was doing

and sometimes I can lose some work I was doing.

Has anyone experienced this ?

Causes ? Diagnostic ? Any possible remedy / solutions ?

If your Mac spontaneously restarts or displays a message that it restarted or shut down because of a problem

So it's become even worse now because my Mac freezes often (reminds me of the early

days with the blue screen of death on PCs)...

I've tried to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) but I don't even know if it

worked because no feedback at all (audio or video) and I don't know how to check if it

worked or not.

The problem has not been solved, because the computer keeps shutting down often,

unexpectedly...
