is the Apple Watch generation for really waterresistant as stated by the manufacturer?

I recently went splashing around in the most shallowest pool this weekend at a conference this weekend and my watch stopped working. Yes, I did do my research before asking for the purchase ofthe watch to ensure that the apple watch would be safe around water when being used as a sports watch, however that is not the case. I don’t feel that Apple is very forthcoming with honest information in the presentations or the information provided about the Apple Watch in reference to the claimed water resistance up to 50 meters. There is also a swimming option for swimmers on the Apple watch which is also very misleading since it is very sensitive as the iPhones, headphones or most Apple products when it comes to contact with water. Does anyone have any current issues with the generation4 watch in regards to water ? After all the years of using Apple|McIntosh products and knowing the sensitivity level, I was very apprehensive about requesting an Apple Watch for a gift now what’s the honest deal?
