Epson 9923 error re scanning and sometimes printing too

Got a new Epson printer to go with existent HP. Told it would interact fine with Mac but did not. Court not get it to do all it should particularly scanning. Was coming up with Error 9923. Read this blog and a few others including checking out Epson site and eventually saw this blog https://toggen.com.au/blog/it-tips/macos-sierra-scanning-fail. I did the same but for my Epson Workforce Pro WF-4745 and went into network settings on printer, advanced, and disabled IPv6. As soon as I did that everything fine. I don't know what if any problems this causes but it fixed the problem. Be interested to know if there are any problems with doing this and/or if this works for other people.

Sorry about all of the typos above (ie ~ Could not get it to do all it should... etc). I will now answer my own question. After through investigation including checking with Apple it simply seems that IPv4 was superseded by IPv6 essentially only to create more communication protocols because the existing combinations were exhausted. So if you are running an older computer, including an older Mac, but then want to connect a newer device such as printer you may need to simple go into the communication/network settings as above and get the device printer to use the older IPv4 (which is usually the default, as it was for my Epson, when I disabled IPv6). I have been told by repeated sources that there are no security issues in doing this; essentially told newer IPv6 is not really better just different created to give more options. So no issues for Mac network etc. Be interested to know if anybody has any different views. As I understand it this should apply for lots of printers and perhaps other devices but I am no expert.
