Can you get the online personal sessions with a Mac bought from an official apple distributor that isn't an apple store (eg. Officeworks)?

Hello. I am advising a friend on buying a computer and I was wondering if things like the online personal sessions are available with a Mac bought from an official apple distributor that isn't an apple store (eg. Officeworks in Australia)? For that matter, what reasons would one buy directly from Apple rather than Officeworks if the Officeworks model is cheaper?

Two reasons are if you want a custom build or a colour that isn't available at Officeworks.

To answer my own question (in case someone else wants to know) I found this on the web site:

"Personal Setup.

Only from Apple.

Get up and running online or in the store.

When you shop at an Apple Store or on the Apple website, we’ll help you start enjoying your Apple product straight away. Personal Setup is offered exclusively through Apple to answer your questions, walk you through key features, help you find great apps and show you how to personalise your device."

So it looks like no, you can't get the online personal sessions if you buy from an Apple authorised reseller.

Since we are all volunteer users here, you best check with Apple; however, I believe that these sessions might only be available if you buy directly from Apple.

One reason for me to buy from Apple: unless I am personally familiar with an online company, I have no idea if they are trustworthy or not. Do they offer a 14 days no questions asked return policy? I usually buy mine in the refurbished section of the online Apple store - they come with an Apple warranty as well.

FWIW, I just checked their website - there is no mention that they are an authorized reseller that I could find.

I've seen someone say that they are an authorised Apple seller on another thread.

I didn't know there was a refurbished section available, so that was very helpful.

Officeworks are well known in Australia and have a good reputation and have bricks & mortar stores as well as online, so it's not like buying from an unknown internet only store.

Anyway thanks for your answer.
