MISLEADING ADVERTISING FOR IPHONE X. PHONE DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR

iPhone X is said to be water resistant for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter. As I was entering the sea with my paddle board I tripped and fell in less than a meter of water and my very expensive iPhone X was burnt beyond repair. This is false advertising and I wish I could sue apple for that!!!! Unfortunately I do not live in the USA. At the very least I should be given a new phone. Had they not advertised it as water resistant I would have never ever entered the water without a waterproof case on my phone.

Hello and thanks for posting.

First, this is a user to user based forum. Apple never sees this.

Second, Apple says that the iPhone is water resistant not waterproof. That means that the iPhone can wet just a little bit without worrying, but it cannot go swimming, bathing, etc because that's not what its made to do. Even though you did not go into the deep end, the speed and force of the water can still damage it. Whats worse, salt water has corrosive properties, which is also something iPhone doesn't like.
