using MacPro 2010 for storage with new iMac
Is there a way to use my 2010 Mac Pro (working well on 1013.6) as a storage device with a newish 2018 iMac?
Mac Pro, macOS 10.12

This support article shows what you need to do:
Use target disk mode to move files to another computer - Apple Support
Understand that when your MacBook Pro is in target disk mode it is no different than any external drive--all it does is stores. You cannot use it a a computer without leaving target disk mode and restarting normally.
If you need to use the MBP simultaneously with the iMac then you can use normal network file sharing to access the MBP's drive from the iMac.

Thanks for the very swift reply. I will check out the link.
The older Mac is not a MBP, just MacPro, but I am guessing that does not matter and, no, I was not looking to use both, just to use the 4 drives in the Mac Pro for storage as I do now.
