I can't find a way to find or "re-add" the orientation icon to the Control Center on an iPad Air 2. They don't have a side button either. Where is this icon located to "re-add" to the Control Panel? I know that I swipe from the upper right hand corner for the Control Panel, but it's not there. I'm inserting an image. Thanks

Settings > General > Accessibility > Switch Control > Menu Items
I'm not sure if your particular situation calls for the accessibility icon to appear in Control Center. If it does, that might conflict with having Rotation Lock appear.
So, dumb question: Where do I get to Switch Control> Menu Items? Thanks for your response!!

Your Control Center image shows Accessibility present.
Accessibility may well limit rotation. See especially Switch Control > Menu Items...
