Does anyone besides me still long for the basic simple fix to OPEN new Pages docs? Why can't the Pages icon on the dock have an option to open a New Pages doc (as in Finder and Safari)?

In Pages Preferences : General, if you set For New Documents: Use Template: ______, then after you quit Pages, you right-click on the Pages Dock icon, and select Open, and it will by-pass the Template Chooser and immediately open a new document based on that preset template. Just tested with Pages v8.0.
Otherwise, as fellow users, we have no inside knowledge of Apple's Pages product team design decision process, or future product planning. Neither does anyone else.
