pages, open new doc with defaut page

Hello -- I'm using a Mac with OS 10.15.4 and Pages 10.0. Two questions, please.


Pages never opens a new doc to the default I've set. It always shows the template chooser anyway. Mac doesn't let me insert a screen shot here, but that's the setting it would show.


Second question: I'd like to open every new Pages doc to the "document only" view. Pages always opens with the thumbnails on the left.


In the pre-2020 Pages, none of this was a problem.

There is an issue with Pages 10 that will require the Pages product team fixing the bug(s) that cause the default thumbnails, and ignoring the designated Use template setting. Nothing you can do about it until the first sentence is resolved (hopefully) with a future Pages update.
