Grouping songs to play together even when shuffled doesn't sync to iPhone

I've always wanted to be able to shuffle songs, but keep the ones that fade/segue into each other together. And now that I've finally figured out that option... well, it works on my PC, but not on my iPhone. I made sure to set the controls to shuffle by groupings, everything's already set so my iPhone and PC automatically sync to whatever I change, but even though I get the two songs staying together on my PC, my iPhone keeps playing them many songs apart from each other. Is there any way to get this to work on my iPhone?

iPhone 6s, iOS 12

Check this thread; https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250294662 which has a lot of detail about this issue.

Basically, although you can shuffle albums in Playlists in iTunes and keep tracks together, you cannot do it on iPods.

The thread details how to join tracks, which is the only way to cause songs to play one after another in shuffle mode. Grouping doesn't do this.
