Trouble Ordering Photo Book

I created a photo book on my Macbook Pro (operating system OS X El Capitan v. 10.11.6) and when I click on Order Book, I get an error message that reads, "Upgrade Required. Ordering is no longer available for this version of Photos. Upgrade to the latest version before ordering."

However, everything on my Mac indicates I have no updates to install. Help! Trying to order as a gift and time is of the essence.

Thank you!

It is too late to order a book from Apple now. Apple stopped the print services for books half a year ago. The last orders had to be placed by September 30, last year.

What you can do now is to export the finished book as a PDF file. Then send this PDF file to any service, that can print books from the PDF of of an Apple book, for example to Mimeo or Presto Photos. See this user tip for more details: Ordering Books and Calendars on a Mac tha… - Apple Community

The update message is misleading. Updating will not allow you to order your book from Apple. If you upgrade to macOS 10.13 or newer, you can use project extensions to create books and order them from third-party services. Apple removed all tools to create Apple Print projects from Photos 4.0 on Mojave.
