When i tried to log into FaceTime and iMessages, it keeps saying “an error occurred during activation”.

I recently got my Macbook Air and i’ve just been setting everything up. When i tried to log into face time and messages, it keeps saying “an error occurred during activation”. i’ve tried everything and nothing will work
