When I click on either a jpg or a pdf on my computer, it will not open. Documents open without issue. This is a brand new problem. It started when I backed up my phone. Could it somehow be related?

Try right-clicking on the JPG or PDF file, select "Open With" then choose "Other", select the Preview app, and "Always Open With":
Or, try right-clicking on the JPG or PDF, select "Get Info", and choose the Preview app:
Try to run the Preview app yourself directly, then go to File > Open and try to open a PDF or JPG. Does that even work?

Yes! Now that worked! Now every jpg and pdf I had clicked on all opened almost at once. Thank you for your help!
