I'm trying to add music to my slide show in Photos. I can deselect the song provided and I can see the songs I want but there is no way to select them.
You need to do it like this:

Ahhh, I see now, it ADDS to the music selection. Even if checked then unchecked it appends the song to the music list. You must edit the list (remove the default selection from the top of the list by clicking on the X at the right) in order for it to begin with the selected music.
Selecting the music (checkmark shows) does NOT add the music to the slideshow. Clicking play or preview or export all play / save the slides with the default music rather than the selection.
