Finder can't make JPEG Thumbnails when making Alias' of JPEGs now(i)

Finder can't make JPEG Thumbnails when making Alias' of JPEGs since upgrading to 10.14.2 from 10.13.x

Previously I rec'd an unhelpful reply so this time I'm adding screen shots so the problem is clear

"You received a reply: sterling r has replied to your question. You can view the full discussion in Communities.Finder suddenly doesn't show thumbnails for Alias

Hey HRBee,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I understand you have concerns about the thumbnails for images in Finder. I'd like to help. What I'd suggest first is to navigate to the Show View Options of Finder (right-click inside a Finder Window), make sure Show Icon Preview is checked. If not, check it and hit Use as Defaults.

Let us know if this helps. Cheers."

Didn't help in the least, the "Show Icon Preview is checked already of course sine the all the other JPEGs have their thumbnails, right?

Well, so what's going on, and how do the other apple users deal with this same issue.

P.s.: i updated to 10.14.5, the most current Mac OS before resubmitting this same concern, I assumed it was a known issue and would be addressed and corrected in future versions of 10.14 after 10.14.2; apparently not.

Why's this important: okay, let's say the photo IMG_0279.HEIC had 15 hours worth of careful work done on it. Certainly there'd be backupup copies, but what to do when one whants to use the image here or there and have it update with any future changes. They'd place an Alias of course in every location rather than copies of it that wouldn't change when the original got it's improvements or changes

p.p.s: I realize the particular image i Aliased is a HEIC image, so here's another screen shot to help show the problem is the same for Bothe JPEGs ans HEIC images files:

...and finally here's a screenshot that shows that in fact that : "Show icon preview" is in fact checked, to assure the first responder. It's also evident in that all the rest of the JPEGs and HEICs have their thumbnails:

Thanks,

H

Download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Copy the report

and use the Add Text button to include the report in your reply. How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine what's causing the problem..
