I've got such a Catch-22 Silverlight headache goin' !

Okay . .  PLEASE don't judge. I'm on 10.6.8 and Google Chrome 49.0.2623.112 (64-bit).

Yes, what an ancient neanderthal I must be, but I cannot afford the domino-effect of "update browser / update OS / update 2011 Mac / update income" required !

(( I couldn't even post this here until I booted over to an external w/ El Capitan. Now even Apple Communities won't recognize my Chrome ?? ))

Anyway, good ol' oblivious Netflix has hit me w/ both a $2 increase and a "no longer support your browser" on the very same May 15th. ( #&%* !! )

I've had the Arctic Fox browser a short while now and hoped to see if Notflix could possibly stomach that, but I'm getting the "Install Silverlight" bugaboo which leads to extracting to the desktop and promptly going nowhere !

Once I have the silverlight folder on the desktop, opening it and clicking silverlight_plugin.pkg don't seem to do nuthin' !

Pardon the very basic wording, but how do I get it INTO some browsers ??

Firefox 45.9.0 would like some too . . .

This page is only adding to the range of confusion as well

Did you check your user Library/Internet Plugins to see if it was there? It may not be Snow Leopard compatible. See if it will install in the Safe Mode.

Safe Mode - About

Have you checked the website for an older version of Silverlight?

Yeesh,

When I saw you replied, I sure figured on more then "do you know how to click on things ?" . . sorry.

It's as I said, silverlight downloads / opens in Disk Utility / wants to extract to desktop ( or other location I must choose ) / then clicking there does absolutely nothing !

Within Library/Internet plug-ins, there is no silverlight.

Again . . why aren't I getting "Install" options ??

Even here, most browsers I have let me log into Apple Discussions, then did zip / nada when I clicked on reply.

I cannot currently afford the domino-effect ( as described in my opening-post ) of updating everything !!

So I'm left completely in the digital dust ?

Eric,

Either you're checking me when very busy, or it's my goofy writing style, but I did say above > "Within Library/Internet plug-ins, there is no silverlight."

Safe Mode resulted in "Open" having even less idea what to do with silverlight.pkg !

Had no idea what to open it with !

Older versions finally downloaded a 5.1 silverlight from 2012, but that went nowhere as well.

I'm still stunned and depressed that Apple Communities goes "blank" when I try to reply here and I have to boot over to an external w/ El Capitan just to continue this convo goin' not much of anywhere. ( sorry . . just dismayed at every turn )
