Water Damage + Screen Issues

Hi, I'm using an Iphone X. I've had it with me for 1 and a half year by now and in those time, I have exposed my Iphone to water countless time. Recently I went and cleaned my Iphone by running tap water over it as I used to do it before. I wiped the exterior and gave a light hit on the bottom part to let out water from the charging socket. After 5 minutes of using it, I first noticed the screen had a green line for like a milisecond and I thought my eyes were deceiving me. A few seconds later the green line became even clear and the screen turned black immediately. I tapped on the screen many times and I noticed that it had response just that the screen was black. So I left my phone for awhile. Afterwards I tried to tap again and still there were response, but the screen remained black, I tried force restart but still black screen.

Now here's the chronology of what happened next:

1) Attempt force restart several times. (still black screen, phone responsive to touch)

2) Force restart while charging. (still black screen, phone responsive to touch)

3) Suddenly one day the screen displayed "Iphone disabled , try again in 1 hour" and I was happy with this until a few seconds later when the screen turned off due to inactivity, it won't turn back on.

4) Several force restart attempts until at one point the screen turned white but with multi colored lines then fading black.

5) Knowing that the display once was able to turn on, I thought okay this could be a software problem. So I tried this ReiBoot software to do a fix on the software/firmware or so.

6) Sadly enough after the program complete running the repairs, a failed message prompted.

7) Now the screen won't respond to touch at all. Only when I press the power button a few moments later the white screen with multi colored lines appear. Even the ring/silent switch on the side which before had the vibrate response won't even work anymore.

I know some might think that was stupid of me to do such things, but I was desperate to use my phone. I work at sea and I wont be coming back home or be on land for another 1 month. Imagine how stressful it is. I hope there's a solution to this problem. Thank you.

I have had the same issue a week ago with my iPhone X but I never washed or dropped it. It’s in pristine condition and the screen gave up all of a sudden after flickering initially. A reboot got it working for a few days (5-6) but now it’s done. Tried calling Apple support, they had disappointing customer service. Said couldn’t help as I neither had warranty nor Apple care, and had apparently no explanation for the sudden screen black out (no damage to the phone or screen what so ever and no previous repairs). Now they want me to pay for the repairs out of my pocket and take no responsibility for the spontaneous screen failure! What should I do?

PS: I miss Steve jobs when iPhones were pioneers of cell phone technology and were robust and way cheaper. (Been with Apple more than a decade and the end seems very disappointing..

Thank you ckuan for the reply.

However I did a further research and I found out that to determine whether my phone is damage by water is to check the indicator inside the sim slot. And so I did and to my surprise, I don't see any red or pinkish color in there. Is it possible that this is not due to water damage?
