Bad sync of calender

I have a apple watch series 1 iOS 4.3.2 and a iPhone X iOS 12.1.2. Recently I have noticed that not all of my appointments show up on my watch. All of my appointments are in the same calender in my phone (I have several calenders that do not need to be seen on my watch). Any suggestion short of reinstalling each device's iOS? If it had been all appointments it would have been easier to understand but random appointments....?

The first suggestion is that your iPhone would benefit from updating to iOS 12.3 which was released a few days ago. I suspect your watch is an original First Generation (before Series 1) which can only update to WatchOS 4.3.2, but if it is a genuine Series 1 it could also be updated to WatchOS 5.2.1. See Identify your Apple Watch - Apple Support to check which version your watch really is.
