Buying AppleCare + in another country

My wife bought me this MacBook Pro in Hong Kong last month. I reside in Malaysia and wish to extend the Apple Care Plan for another 2 years. She thought we have to buy in the country where we may be utilising the services. But instead I'm being sent to Apple US to buy the AppleCare instead of Malaysia. Is there anyway of buying it locally?
