Cannot add a song to library

Today I had exactly the same issue, iTunes Version 12.9.4.94 on macOS.

A few hours before I had changed my Apple ID to a new email address. I don't know if that is the reason.

Solved as follows:

• Opened Music app on my iPad
• Tried to add a new album (from Apple Music) to my library
• I got a similar white window but on iPad it was showing new terms and conditions
• I agreed to the new terms, and the album got added
• I returned to my iTunes on Mac, but I still had the issue
• I restarted iTunes
• This time it worked! Could add an album again on Mac.

Looking at another thread it seems this is an issue with new terms at the store, but for some reason iTunes isn’t displaying the required dialog box. Try adding a song from an iOS device, or a new empty library in which you can sign out of iTunes and back in again without affecting your downloaded content.

I didn't talked about browse section,

Once you searched for your desired song, then on result apply mentioned below steps.

• Just right click on + which lies alongside to each songs.
• Then, add it to any playlist
• Then it will show the option for offline download.

Try copying the files you want to add to the Automatically Add to ITunes folder inside the iTunes Media folder. They will either be added to the library or moved to a Not Added folder if iTunes doesn’t like them for some reason. Possible reasons for rejection are a format that iTunes cannot handle or that doesn’t match the file extension.

Exact same thing happened to me! I spent 30 minutes with Apple support trying to solve the issue with no luck. I was able to accept the new terms and conditions from another device and sign back in to Apple Music from my Mac book and it the problem was resolved.

This is a great tip. You can use the elipsis (3 dots) menu to add to playlist too, and it doesn't trigger that non-loading dialog box. On a Mac at least it seems that you cannot right-click in For You and Browse.

On my I tunes I have the same problem can add music to library if I buy it but when you try n add from browser it comes up activity cancelled my iMac is version 10.14.5 how can u fix this support didn’t work after 4 different advisors

Agreeing to the new conditions in iOS solves the problem in MacOS.

But it's hard to believe that Apple would leave it's millions of Apple Music subscribers and iMac and MacBook owners in this situation for a week and counting. If this were my business I wouldn't sleep until I fixed it.

I was convinced that there had to be a way to do this without going to another iOS device. Sadly, I could not find another solution. Thank you for your steps. It resolved the problem, just as you said.

This solution does not help those of us who do not have an iOS device. We are still stuck with no way to agree to the new terms.

See About iCloud Music Library icons and status - Apple Support for reasons a track might be rejected from iCloud Music Library, Could you be trying to add a duplicate item for example?

Contact iTunes - Official Apple Support and let them know about the issue. Perhaps they can set a flag on the account to show you've agreed to the new terms.
