When I select "Preferences" in Mac Mail, all I get is an empty "Signatures" box

I need to edit the signatures in Mac Mail, but I am unable to access the Signature editing function. All I get is an empty Signatures box when I select Preferences. How can I fix this?

After Mac Mail update I cannot choose between different signatures, the list is empty. Mail application was updated on 25.08.2022. Before that, I was able to choose and use different signatures. If I go to Preferences - Signatures I still see different signatures. But if I open a new email then the "Signatures" list is empty, I cannot see any signatures. Signatures won't save on my mac mail I'm running version 16 of Mac Mail and I use several signatures which won't save anymore. It's very time consuming adding them every time. I've checked discussions and haven't found a solution that works. I've reset my NVRAMs and restarted in safe mode. Nothing works.

Blank signature box upon clicking preferences. I'm trying to add a new signature to my email accounts. I open mail app, click preferences, then a blank box appears. No other windows available, just the blank box. Still using Mojave.

Did you try clicking the "+" button to create a new signature name? You can then click on that new signature name and edit that.
