Yahoo email not working on Mac (but works in Safari, iPhone and iPad)

Any ideas what's causing this? I can't download in to Mail. I've deleted the accounts and re-added them. Worked last night, tonight it's stopped again. No problems in Safari, iPad or iPhone.


Password is right, IMAP settings are correct etc. I'm trying to add from Internet Accounts within System Preferences. I'm clicking on 'Add Another Account' as other posts say I should (but the Yahoo one doesn't work either).


Might there be some kind of keychain thing to delete somewhere?


Somehow Mail is not talking to Yahoo and that seems to be the only broken part of the chain.

But the username and password are right - they work in Safari etc, so somewhere the communication is breaking down.

Connection Doctor doesn't suggest anything that helps.

Deleting the mail account and then adding it back in, is common trouble shooting fix.



There is no stand alone Mail.app , however the from Recovery re-installing the macOS on top odf your existing macOS is the way to refresh the system.
