HomePod Apple Music Connectivity Issues

I have two HomePods stereo-paired in the living room. Too often when I ask Siri to play music, she says "I am unable to do that right now". When I open the Home app, Ungroup Accessories, create a stereo-pair again, then Siri can play music. We also from time to time output sound in Apple TV through the HomePods when using Netflix and Amazon, as well as stream music from Spotify using the phone, not sure whether it is related.

This is super annoying, definitely a major bug.

Has anyone else having the same issue, any solutions?

I think I have found the issue.

When you go to Apple TV settings and set audio output to HomePods, and keep it that way, next time HomePods can't connect to Apple Music.

If you change Apple TV audio output back to Apple TV, HomePods can connect to Apple Music again.

Yes. Mine do that from time to time. My solution is to just unplug the homepod(s), plug right back in. If it’s not Fixing it, then I unplug my wifi modem for a minute to reboot it.

The issue seems to be, it periodically loses its connection to the internet. This can also be also caused if you have Dual Bands on your wifi. It will disconnect from one radio, then struggle to find the higher speed. The solution for that is to disable one and make only one be the default (usually the lower speed).

using for apple tv shouldn’t affect it’s performance.
