2015 MBP - Booting to black screen - Radeon Problem? (dedicated GPU)

Hi.

After opening my Macbook from sleep, it went to a black screen.

I've tried all reset tricks with no love.

When I try and boot to safe mode, it seems I get a progress bar and then eventually the screen goes black.

If I try and boot with a Linux live key, I get the message "*Error* UVD not responding, trying to reset the VCPU!! Then eventualy something about the the radeon 1:00.0: failed intializating UVD (-1)

I"m at a loss for how to trouble shoot now.

  • is there a ways to test if it's the dedicated GPU or not? Is there a way to bypass it?
  • I would love to get my data / use my $3000 2015 MBP (dedicated GPU) if someone can offer any help.

MacBook Pro 15", OS X 10.11
