Emergency Alerts and Do Not Disturb

Is there a way to indicate that I'd like to receive the government emergency alerts (like severe weather warnings) while my phone is on Do Not Disturb? I use DND while sleeping, and last night we had tornado warnings where the notification showed on my phone's lock screen but no sound was made. I would like to always allow the government alerts (both notifications and sounds).

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Emergency Alerts are on, however, they are not sounding despite what the article says. I do keep my phone on mute, but in the past, the Emergency Alert sounds still blared. Not sure why it is no longer doing so.

I like the idea at the end of the article where the author suggests some upgrades in the next version of iOS that are modeled after the flexibility offered by Android. I would love to see an option to add Emergency Alerts to the "Allow Calls From" section of Do Not Disturb since they are not coming through as suggested.
