copied audio region won't play

When I copy an audio region and paste it into a different, existing audio track, it won't play back. It is gray, and I can't find any indication (other than that) as to why it won't work. The existing regions play just fine. I've tried quitting Logic and re-opening the project to no avail.. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Mark

I am using Logic Pro X 10.4 with MacOS Sierra on a MacMini.

Ok, I'm a moron! I had not worked on this project for several months and forgot what I had done, even though it should have been obvious. I was using the "mooing" sound from the MIDI sound set in one of the tracks, and so it was a MIDI track. As I said this should have been obvious by the flat line in the region and the icon at the beginning of the track (which for some odd reason was a dog..." anyway, I would have expected a warning saying "You can't put an audio region in a MIDI track" because Logic won't let you put an audio region in a MIDI track.... Sometimes you get so used to seeing what you expect to see, you don't see what is really there.

thank you, FreioMusic, the region was/is not muted. When I bounced the original track and bounced it to a new track, the new track worked but if I moved that track into the track I wanted it to be in, it was once again muted. I appreciate your answering the question and if you have some more ideas, maybe I shouldn't bounce it to a new track, but I wasn't sure what else to do with it... I guess I don't quite understand all the options...

Thanks again,

Mark
