AMD-Action:downloadProduct:

I've been trying to upgrade Sierra or High Sierra. The App Store keeps halting the download and giving a message "AMD-Action:downloadproduct:SP". (currently running El Cap 10.11.6 on a Mid 2010 iMac). I have tried macOS recovery and safe mode to no avail.

Thanks, Paul

iMac 21.5", OS X 10.11

Work around for me...

Download something else (free, I chose Slack) from the app store, this forces a login and verification I wasn't receiving. As that was downloading installing, I used this (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macos-sierra/id1127487414?ls=1&mt=12) and it allowed me to download.

I know it's screwy, but I hope it works as easily as it did for me.

This post bij Dan537 help me solve it:

Had this problem as well once I was deep into the process and could not log into the App Store.

Here is what worked:

  1. On another Mac computer I own I logged out, then into the App Store.
  2. On the Mac I was having this issue with I went into Internet Recovery (power on or restart and hold Command-Option-R immediately when you hear the startup chime). Keep holding until your see the Starting Internet Recovery globe icon. You should then get prompted to join a Wi-Fi network if you are not on wired Ethernet. Once joined, you should see a progress bar, then the OS X Utilities screen, where you can choose Reinstall OS X. It can take quite a while for this to appear, since it is loading from Apple's servers over the Internet.
  3. This time the AMD-Action:downloadProduct:SP message did not show up and everything proceeded normally.

Hope this works for folks.

Got this from Cory Cooper posting on Mac-help.com - Many thanks Cory!!!

For me, I got this error when trying to install Mojave. I had to perform the other pending updates before I was able to proceed. This was on a Macbook Pro that I hadn't had OS X installed on for a long time. It believe there were firmware/software upgrades as a prerequisite as once these were done, I no longer got the "AMD-Action" error.

Do either of these links act differently?

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macos-sierra/id1127487414?ls=1&mt=12

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macos-high-sierra/id1246284741?ls=1&mt=12

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

I ended up simply having to repeat the whole process. After the first wipe/install I received the “AMD...” error, then managed to install with some work-around a High Sierra but it wouldn’t open iTunes or the App Store, and other problems. After the second wipe everything worked properly.

Consider:

  • repeat the “Ctrl-R” erase
  • then “Ctrl-R/Disk Utility” create new partition, create Journaled partition on Hard Drive
  • then “Ctrl-R” download install OS over the air
  • if the default OS downloads and works (in m case it was Lion), then you can progressively update the OS in similar fashion (for me first Sierra, then High Sierra)

Has anyone figured out how to work around this?

I'm trying to upgrade from El Cap v10.11.4 to Mojave (or Sierra, or High Sierra, or anything) via the App Store and get the following message when I try to download the installer: AMD-Action:downloadProduct:RP

I followed the steps outlined here: https://www.hskupin.info/2016/11/08/how-to-solve-apple-id-login-failure-amd-actiondownloadproductsp/

But with continued failure in attempting to download the os. Any suggestions will be much appreciated! (are there ways to download a Mac OS outside of the App Store?)
