Location Services with iPad and HomePod

My iPad and my HomePod can’t find their location on my home network, but my phone and MacBookPro are fine. As far as I know, all services are turned on.

This just started happening within the last few weeks. Siri on HomePod started telling me “I don’t know where you are” when I asked for a weather report. The problem has persisted. My iPad can’t do it either.

Check you have location services turned on for weather .

  • On iPad in settings - privacy- location services - weather - set to always

if it was on, ,then toggle it off, close the settings app, go back in and toggle it back on

Next:

  • in the Home App - HomePod settings, toggle off and on there as well.

  • Also, unplug HomePod, plug right back in

Well yes, the wifi can be isolated to one or two devices.

Try rebooting your router and reset network settings on iPhone and iPad.

  • Which device did you set the homepod up with? Because you should do the above instructions (in my first post) in that device (if it was your iPhone) - it connects to that device and will refuse to assist if there’s an issue on the device you set it up with.

  • make sure your software is up to date in all devices.

The native Apple weather App, now gets its weather from the weather network. This changed a few weeks ago. It could be an issue with that.

You could also look yourself up in contacts and make sure your address is added in, Although I’m not sure it’s of much help.
