I think this was because of a new update. EVERY time my phone updates my contacts disappear. This is the 3rd time this happened. It is extremely inconvenient and annoying. From one day to another, my contacts are no longer in my phone. I followed threads online and nothing works to restore my contacts.
This is ridiculous. Please help me.

I did check my email accounts and all of them are ok. This was the first things I did especially after looking at the only solutions. I made no changes to contact settings from one day to another.
It was really weird and not expected.
If you are missing WhatsApp contacts, I suggest you contact WhatsApp Support for help. The installation of an iOS update is not going to habitually delete contacts from an app. I'm guessing there is an issue with your WhatsApp, and you need to straighten it out with them.
However ridiculous it may seem but Contacts are not stored locally on any iPhone. They are synced with your email account that your had added. example: iCloud, Google, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, Exchange or any other.

No where I could find any link on the problem of "Contacts Missing" faced by you. Introspect and have a complete and thorough check on the way you handle settings on your iPhone.

Solution. Have a thorough check on your email accounts that you had that you have now. Add which ever is missing.
Opened whatsapp and contacts I had saved in my phone are missing.
