A thin horizontal black line on my ipad mini 4 screen. If you be me, will replace the LCD?

It's only single line but still visible and it make my experience using my ipad mini 4 a little bit butchered. I never dropped my ipad before, the line appear for no reason in my beatiful morning. I look to replace my LCD but it cost freaking $100. If you be me, what desicion will you make?

iPad mini 4, iOS 12

How annoying is it to use with the line on the screen? Is it off to the side and towards the middle?

You can get a refurbished iPad Mini 4 direct from Apple for $309. Those do include a 1-year warranty and new battery. I would weigh that cost versus the screen replacement cost.

Refurbished iPad - iPad mini 4 - Apple

If this happened to me, personally, I would probably keep using it and save my money toward buying a refurbished iPad or eventually a new iPad. After a week it probably will get easier to ignore the line. But if it drives you crazy you can get a refurbished and maybe sell your old one to somebody who doesn't care very much?

I am assuming your $100 repair is from an independent (unauthorized) shop, because the Apple and Authorized Service Provider cost is listed as $299?

Obviously that's definitely not worth it when Apple is directly selling refurbished units for that price these days.

That $100 screen replacement is it at an authorized service provider or some independent third party? Because, generally, iPads are not modular and screen replacements aren’t as easy as you would think they are.

If you can I would take it to an apple store and have them check it out. You will probably be offered an out of warranty replacement which i s about 60% the cost of a new device.....and depending on how long you have had that device you may be money ahead to consider a new one.

Or you can keep using that one until it really gets bad then buy a new one. But that line is probably the equivalent of the ipads graphic’s card going bad. It may hold on for days or months or years, no way to really know. It may slowly get worse or it may suddenly just stop working.
