I'm sure there are some people who are. I'm not. Use your iPhone for 72 hours then check Settings > Battery and see what processes/apps are using most of your battery. And check your battery health while you are there.

12.4 didn't help, apple call support didn't help, resetting all settings didn't help..... will now try erasing everything and restoring from back up over the weekend.... if that doesn't work, then will again erase everything and restore as a new device and post it here again that it didn't help :'(

Then hopefully not but if required, take it to the service center and spend extra on an already super expensive gadget. I think even the service center might not be able to find anything

Had anyone been successful with deggie’s suggestion?

Has anyone been successful at any suggestion?

I have tried everything and continue to have the issue.

I continue to be perplexed by the following battery draining problems that are iOS related on my iPhone X:

-Spotlight search either inoperative or functions with errors. My workaround is to leave the App Store open and search and open apps within it instead of Spotlight. Spotlight drains battery.

-Battery function is normal until and unless I open either or both Safari and Mail

There are now thousands of views on this topic. Multiple models of iPhone are affected.

Really, has anyone found a successful fix that actually returns their device to normal functionality?

If so, please say so.

Yes, I’m having the same problem plus my Wi-Fi button will no long swipe to on. Position.

Hasn’t it been proven that Apple does this every time a new phone is coming out. I’m so upset. I can’t even back up my phone since I can’t get the Wi Fi button to do anything.

My battery is draining so fast. I could go all day and now within an hour it almost dead.

So frustrated!

Safe to assume by now that APPLE DOESN'T CARE!

adding on to my post from a week ago where no sort of reboot or setting up iPhone as new worked, even Apple Service Center could't figure out a problem after keeping my phone with them for 2 days.

I spent ~$850 to get my iPhone 8 about 15 months ago and the only solution they have is to get it replaced by paying another $500.... the only reason they can give is that there is an internal hardware problem and phone needs to be replaced.....!!

Seriously???? An iPhone 8 is going to cost me $1300+ which wasn't even its launch price... disgraceful!

I think if you had bothered to read the whole thread you'd have realised that

1) most of us only experienced this problem after we updated the OS

2) even after updating the OS to the latest the problem still persist.

3) the 'solution' of updating to the latest OS hasn't worked for most of us

& 4) the 'solution' of 'replacing our battery' isn't an acceptable solution.

1) Clearly you have not read it, otherwise you would know that common factor is that it happens after the OS update.

2) Apple is aware of it, had you read the threads you would know that many of us have gone down to Apple to bring up the issue. Their excuse is always to change the battery or get a new phone.

3) If you had read the thread as you claim then you would be aware that I have changed my battery before as it was starting to fritz. After the battery change the phone was working fine - until the OS update, when suddenly, as if by magic, the battery drains at an unprecedented rate, it drops from 90% to less than 10% and then suddenly shuts down and refuses to turn back on as if the battery was flat. When I plug in the lightning cable the phone turns back on showing at least 15% and within about 15 minutes it charges back to 70%.

So unless Apple has miraculously and secretly enabled my lightning cable to supercharge my phone I am hard pressed to agree that it's the battery.

4) You say that we fail to consider a third party app, I would say that you assume that it is a third party app. Not everyone updates the apps immediately after the OS change, there are those who do and those who don't. Yet the problem still occurs. if you want to claim its the app, then either the older version is faulty (then regardless of whether we use the latest OS or the previous, the problem would occur), or the newer version is faulty (and would not explain why those of us who are using a version of an app that's not updated are facing the same problem). Either way the common factor here is the OS.

5) There have also been others here who have also said that they reset their phones to factory mode after - ergo, there are no 3rd party apps which can be blamed yet the battery drain still occurs.

The Iphone 6 that I still have? The one which I changed the battery? I tried factory resetting it and loaded only Whatsapp and it still happens. Amazingly my older iOS devices? The ones which are no longer supported by Apple (meaning no more updated OSes), their battery life is still doing fine. No sudden battery drain and shut down.

The common factor amongst the complaints have been that the severe and sudden battery drain occurs after the OS update. It is as if the OS has been designed to figure out how old the phone is and to cause problems so as to encourage us to buy a newer model of phone, something I wouldn't mind if not for the cost.

Just want to point out that my phone is a relatively new iPhone 8 (less than 6 months), so it's not the battery that is in cause. Everything was fine before I applied the 12.3.1 update. I have tried to backup my data to iCloud and restore from backup, as it was suggested on this forum, but the problem is still there. I disabled SIRI and it has helped the battery life a bit, but it is still draining.

Has anyone tried updating to the new 12.4 that was just released? I an normally reluctant to apply updates when they are released, but with the battery problem, I am tempted to update and see if its solves the problem.
