I'm sure there are some people who are. I'm not. Use your iPhone for 72 hours then check Settings > Battery and see what processes/apps are using most of your battery. And check your battery health while you are there.

I was able to solve the sudden battery drain issue with some Genius help. After some careful analyzing we simply used the ""Reset Network Settings" option under settings/general/reset. This seems to have solved the issue that started right after I upgraded to iOS 12.4. So, even though my battery is at 88%, it seems to be working well enough for my admittedly heavy daily use.

Which just goes to show that there are lots of different things causing peoples' battery issues. Troubleshooting is sometimes a matter of throwing things agains the wall until something sticks.

Glad you got it sorted.

so.......I had restored the factory setting without putting back the back up. Did a couple of test as I mentioned before, the battery is still remain the same. And as I had aldy made the appointment with the genius 🍑 bar, and I went. And of cuz, the answer is the same, they do not know what’s wrong with the phone, cuz be hardware and blah blah blah.... eventually, AGAIN!!! I said AGAIN!! “Advise” 🍑 to trade in before the phone turns into a brick!

I mean this is the product, do you have the responsibility to sort out or at least eager to find out what’s wrong?!?! Instead of just telling me 🍑 to “trade in”?!

Really? This is the customer service?!

Many people here are not helping as well but to tell people that they are better than the rest of the world.....level 10 huh?! Well I have been using apple products since Nano, that’s more than a decade I believe....

Update, after trying a full reset, reset network settings and swiping up to close programs constantly, my phone is steadily deteriorating, it now has a battery health of 63%. (86% just before the update)Has to be a software issue as it is the software that decides when to charge the phone and for how long. I have had days where it will not charge at all to others it charges in an hour, other times the battery percentage remains the same for extended periods to today I have it plugged in and it will not pass 69% charge level, it actually is losing charge while charging!!! I cannot get a run out of my phone now as it dies while I am out so cannot log my distance or even have music to listen to, that's with charging my phone fully before a one hour run. Apple have 2 year warranty but not for consumables like batteries, I have never felt so frustrated and helpless in my life. No matter what I decide to do its going to cost me money thanks to Apple's greed, not happy just to sell phones when they die naturally they go ahead and kill them prematurely. Irony is we go back for more :-(

No, it doesn't have to be a software error and it could actually be a coincidence. Your iPhone was already near the point it needed to be replaced and the 80% recommendation is just that and not an absolute. I would replace the battery, run the iPhone for 72 hours and see if everything stabilizes. Batteries do not last forever and no one has a lifetime warranty on their phones. I would not delay in replacing the battery as the next symptom will be expansion.

And no, they have never had software that killed batteries.

I bought the iPhone 4s when it came out. The last update I did on it was the 8.3. (Because Apple messed up with Operating releases after the release of the iOS 7.

the only reason I upgraded to a newer phone was because... well, 6yrs.

my current phone. The iPhone 6s had no problems under the 10.2.1 system. LITERALLY! RIGHT after downloading the 12.3.1 I've had battery drainage issues. Which are ridiculous, and unacceptable

I’m totally with you Chris. I had called the phone support and they ran another restore factory setting and the battery is still running super fast even it’s off! I’m still waiting for them to sort out. My 6s’ battery just got replaced in Dec 2018. I really doubt it’s fhe battery issue... my other 6s is still 12.2 and still running fine with the new battery that’s replaced in Dec 2018 as well....

this is so annoying!!!

That is not helpful because that would be a work around.

My iPhone 7 Plus (company phone, company managed), since I went to 12.3.1 I have suddenly battery draining issues.

I hardly make phone calls, I never have WiFi on for long periods of time, mostly only 4G, I have already disabled it from downloading email in the background (I get a lot), have disabled a plethora of other stuff that was recommended, never used Bluetooth, running phone in Dark mode, disabled Siri completely, yet, Siri still comes up on top as the main source of battery usage and does not last me 24 hours.

If there were a braille option I would have tried that to to prevent the screen from using the battery.

All kidding aside, this aint fun. I am unable to upgrade any higher than my current 12.3.1 as it's company managed, but reading this post, that is not going to help me.

Apple, please enlighten us.

I think I tackled them all, except playing a song from Apple music... That seemed daft. I already listed a couple in my post as you can see, but I honestly do not believe there are any left except stopping dictation, which I would miss in the car. What I also don't understand why Siri is always on top of the list of battery using apps, when she's completely turned off and not listening...

I am also having the same issue, & i have turned off everything in the background. Apple is slick. This happens every time they do an update. Then they say its your battery so you can spend a $100 to replace it!! And each update takes more and more space on your device! I sm done with Apple!!

Fot my work, I have no choice, it's Apple. Privately it's Android, but I'm a techie and like more control over my personal possessions. The only Apple thing I have (x-mas present boss) is still going strong (as not being updated anymore for years) is my iPad mini of the first gen. Battery life is u believable and speed is sufficient for my use. (Squeezepad)

But you're right there is something almost every update while my Android (old Nexus) keeps getting better by the update and is still being updated. After years of use, my battery is finally on par with my years newer iPhone 7 plus....

iPhone SE and iPad 5th generation BOTH have ridiculously fast battery drain since installing 12.3.1. Drove to nearest Apple store 1 hour away a few days ago, and the “genius” told me there is nothing wrong with this iOS version, that my battery is just old (phone battery was rated as 85%). He reset network settings on the phone and said that would solve it. Put a new battery in the phone, charged to 100% and battery was at 4% after being out of the house last night for 4 1/2 hours, even though for part of that time the phone was turned completely off for a show. iPad hasn’t changed, doesn’t last a day now, when it went 2-3 days of typical use before this update.

I have been a 100% Apple devotee for >10 years (home and work macs, iPads, phones) and have promoted them to friends and family, even helped them purchase devices; I have been fond of the cross-platform fluidity of their “ecosystem”, but now you can do all that with Google. I am seriously considering jumping to Android for my next phone if they’re gonna keep releasing new iOS versions before fully testing them, then covering up their ineptness, meanwhile jacking up prices on new gadgets and denigrating older ones after shorter and shorter times. My loyalty is wearing very thin.

Can someone in States make a statement to Apple like last year what they did regarding the battery drainage?!

so that the Apple can face this issue publicly and globally?

my previous message been removed cuz they want to keep me quiet!

this IOS 12.3.1 seriously have better draining issue and they seem playing ostrich strategy .....
