My sony tv is HDR10 compatibility.

My AV receiver is full hd only.

When i select 1080 HDR video output, it says the hdmi cable what i am using is not compatible.

If i change the hdmi cable, can i able to see HDR videos on my tv? Should the av receiver also should HDR compatible?

If you use your AV receiver as hub (in between Apple TV and TV), then the receiver should have HDMI 2.0+HDCP 2.2 ports to be 4K HDR compatible (to facilitate video passthrough).

Alternatively, if you connect the Apple TV to the TV, and the TV to the receiver (via ARC), then the video specification doesn’t matter to the AV receiver (as it doesn’t have to passthrough any video).
