unread mail count is wrong

Hello,

My Apple Mail smart mailboxes have the wrong count for unread emails. Can anyone help with a fix please?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

Apple Mail includes my drafts in the Unread Messages Count I have three emails running through Apple Mail, which--according to Apple--it should be able to handle easily. However, one of the accounts is now including my drafts in the unread email count, which makes the count useless. I can live with this, but it does slow me down, andApple's Help instructions have been useless. I've followed them exactly, and they made no difference. Anyone have a suggestion? My General Settings show: Dock unread count: Inbox Only New message notifications: Inbox Only Mailbox behaviors show: Drafts Mailbox: Drafts; Sent Mailbox: Sent; Junk Mailbox: Spam; Trash Mailbox: Trash. I can't see any reason this should be happening. Thanks in advance for any help offered!

Smart mailbox not reliable I have a smart mailbox called "Today" listing all email that was received today. I often have the unread filter on for this mailbox. I noticed it is often not reliable. Right now it is showing me just two messages, where the actual count as shown in the "All inboxes" folder is much higher.

Mail app mishandling emails Sometimes, when I open an email, using the apple Mail app, all of the other emails in my inbox will appear as a thread with the email I just opened. It doesn’t happen right away, but rather after a few seconds all the emails pop up in the thread. Then I’m forced to scroll through hundreds of emails to find the one I was looking at. How can I fix this problem?

Not all of them. The other mailboxes count in correct. regular mailboxes show correct numbers.

They show more numbers. like one of them for example has no unread messages but it is showing 26 unread messages.

Only the smart mailboxes? All of them? How wrong? Less than what it should be, more?

Do regular mailboxes show the right numbers?
