A failed download left 150+ empty folders on my iCloud. How can I get rid of them?

The download of a large file failed and I have been left with more than 150 empty folders on my iCloud root directory.

I deleted them a couple of times but they seem of come back.

How can I get rid of them for good?

[>>] Extra details:

The folders have two-digit hexadecimal names like 0a and d5. Some of them contain fragments of the download from 1kb to 60kb. The failed download was 17Gb so I don't want to have to delete 17Gb worth of tiny fragments.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

Try going to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. See if the files are in the Mobile Documents folder. If so, try deleting them from there.

Thank you for the advice, Eric.

I did as you described the the folders were indeed in the Mobile Documents folder. I deleted them!

Previously they reappeared after a couple of hours, so I will report back!

You are welcome. Don't forget to empty the Trash. You can also delete them from iCloud.com/iCloud Drive in an attempt to make sure they don't sync back.
