Mojave 10.14.4 Finder search results cannot be dragged or copied

Suddenly Finder no longer allows me to drag / copy search results. If I attempt to drag a file it gets a white 'not permitted' icon on it. Copying and trying to paste elsewhere results in an error sound as though the clipboard is empty (which it apparently is).

Rebooting computer has not helped.

It occurs with files on any disk - but only when attempting to drag files in a search results list... normal browsing through folders and dragging does work.

Help/tips much appreciated!

Thank you for that! It works indeed, I was dragging directly upwards to another Finder window and then the 'not permitted' symbol stays there.

Strange behaviour, though - I would expect it to drop the 'non permitted' thing the moment it left the window, regardless of which direction it goes / which line it crosses.

But thanks again for your swift solution!
